Grateful, Strong and Simple: A Better Way to Approach Holiday Wellness

The Holidays Don’t Need Another Extreme Plan

The holiday season has a funny way of convincing us that we have two options:

Do everything perfectly.

Or give up until January.

Neither one is very helpful.

I would rather approach November differently.

Grateful enough to notice what is already good.
Strong enough to keep showing up.
Simple enough to sustain.
Present enough to enjoy the people around me.

That is the kind of wellness I want to build—not something that only works when life is quiet.

1. Start With Gratitude Before Goals

November naturally gets us thinking about gratitude, but I don’t want gratitude to become forced positivity.

Hard things and gratitude can coexist.

We can be tired and thankful.
Grieving and grateful.
Frustrated and still notice something good.

I also think gratitude can change the way we see our bodies.

Instead of only asking what we want to change, we can ask:

What can my body do today that I am thankful for?

Walk.
Lift.
Carry.
Recover.
Heal.
Serve.
Hug the people I love.

That shift matters.on.

2. Strength Is About Capacity

The older I get, the less interested I am in training only for appearance.

I want capacity.

I want to keep doing life.

Strength training helps support muscle, function, confidence and our ability to keep participating in everyday activities as we age.

That does not mean every workout has to be intense.

Some days strength looks like lifting heavy.

Other days it looks like rebuilding.

Walking.

Mobility.

A modified workout.

Starting again.

Consistency over time matters more than one heroic workout.

3. Give Your Body Something to Build With

If we ask our bodies to work, adapt and recover, we also have to support them.

Protein.
Whole foods.
Water.
Micronutrients.
Sleep.
Recovery.

Those basics matter.

This is also where my Perga Core 4 fits into my own routine.

I use it as foundational support alongside the things we already know matter—not instead of them.

I am not looking for a shortcut.

I am trying to build a routine I can actually sustain.

4. Busy Seasons Need Simpler Routines

When life gets busy, people often respond by adding more rules.

I think the opposite works better.

Protect the basics before chasing the extras.

My minimum healthy day can be very simple:

Spend time with God.
Eat protein.
Drink water.
Move.
Take my Core 4.
Do a basic skincare routine.
Go to bed.

That may not sound exciting.

But sustainable usually beats complicated.

5. Thanksgiving Does Not Need Food Guilt

This is one of the messages I wish more women heard during the holidays:

You do not need to save calories for Thanksgiving.

You do not need to earn your meal with exercise.

You do not need to punish yourself the next day.

Eat normal meals.

Prioritize protein and water because they help you feel good—not because you are trying to control dinner.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving food.

Be present with your people.

Move because movement feels good.

Then return to your normal routines.

One holiday meal does not determine your health.

6. Self-Care Can Be Small

Self-care during a busy season does not need to become another project.

Sometimes it is ten minutes.

A shower.

A favorite Posh product.

Skincare.

Comfy clothes.

Phone down.

Things ready for tomorrow.

Bed.

Those simple routines can help create a transition between doing and resting.

And sometimes that is exactly what we need.

7. Faith Keeps the Whole Thing in Perspective

This continues to be the foundation underneath everything for me.

I can train.

Eat well.

Take supplements.

Build routines.

Plan ahead.

But I am still not in control of everything.

Strength and dependence can coexist.

I can care for what God has entrusted to me while still trusting Him with what I cannot control.

That is stewardship.

Not obsession.

Not perfection.

Faithful care..

Choose Your Holiday Anchors

If the holidays feel overwhelming, choose two or three anchors.

Maybe:

Prayer.
Protein.
Water.
Walking.
Strength training.
Sleep.
A simple evening routine.

Let the rest flex.

The strongest routine is not the one you follow perfectly.

It is the one you can return to when life changes..

Carry Forward What Earned a Place

At the end of November, ask yourself:

What made life better?

What helped me feel stronger?

What helped me feel grounded?

What became unnecessary?

What deserves to continue into December?

We do not have to carry every routine, rule or goal forward simply because we started it.

Keep what served you.

Release what didn’t.

And keep building a life that supports the person God is calling you to be.

Grateful enough to notice.

Strong enough to serve.

Simple enough to sustain.
