CoreGreen & Chlorella: Daily Nutrition From the Inside Out

What If Going Green Was About More Than Eating Your Vegetables?
When you hear the word green, you probably think salads, broccoli, spinach or maybe that green smoothie you keep telling yourself you’re going to make.
But there is another tiny green powerhouse I’ve been learning a LOT about lately:
Chlorella.
And as we wrap up my Core 4 education series, we’re finishing with Perga CoreGreen, the PM portion of the Core 4 routine.
What I love about CoreGreen is actually what I’ve come to love about the entire Core 4 philosophy: it isn’t about adding 15 different things to your supplement cabinet. It’s about giving your body foundational nutritional support consistently.
So let’s talk about what makes this little green organism so interesting.
What Is Chlorella?

Chlorella is a microscopic, single-celled green algae.
Don’t let its size fool you.
Whole chlorella naturally contains protein, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids and plant pigments—including the one responsible for its incredibly deep green color: chlorophyll.
Perga’s CoreGreen provides 2,500 mg of USDA-certified organic chlorella in a five-tablet serving. According to Perga’s nutritional profile, that serving typically provides 43.5 mg of chlorophyll and includes naturally occurring vitamin B12, carotenoids, lutein and a broad amino-acid profile.
But there’s an important catch when we’re talking about chlorella.
Your body has to be able to access what’s inside.
Why Does “Cracked-Cell Chlorella” Matter?

This was one of the most interesting things for me to learn.
Chlorella naturally has a rigid, cellulose-rich cell wall. CoreGreen uses a controlled cracked-cell process that breaks that wall while retaining the whole organism and its natural nutrient matrix.
In other words:
We’re not isolating one trendy nutrient from chlorella. We’re keeping the whole-food source intact while making what’s inside more accessible.
Perga describes CoreGreen as 100% whole cracked-cell chlorella with no nutrient isolates or concentrates added.
And THAT fits beautifully with the theme we’ve been talking about throughout this entire series:
Work with the body. Support the foundation. Keep it simple.
What’s Actually Inside CoreGreen?
Here’s where my nutrition-loving brain gets a little excited.
One five-tablet serving of CoreGreen contains 2,500 mg of organic chlorella.
Within that whole-food source, Perga’s nutritional analysis identifies:
- 43.5 mg chlorophyll
- 7.5 mcg naturally occurring vitamin B12
- All nine essential amino acids
- Naturally occurring carotenoids and lutein
- Vitamins including B vitamins, vitamin E and vitamin K1
- Minerals including iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc
- Naturally occurring omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
These nutrients occur naturally within the chlorella rather than being a collection of isolated nutrients added to the tablet.
That’s one of the reasons I think of CoreGreen less as “another supplement” and more as a concentrated whole-food addition to my daily routine.

Chlorophyll: Why Is Chlorella So Green?
You can’t talk about chlorella without talking about chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll is the natural pigment plants and algae use during photosynthesis—and it is responsible for that unmistakable deep green color.
CoreGreen’s nutritional profile lists 43.5 mg of naturally occurring chlorophyll per five-tablet serving. It also contains other naturally occurring plant pigments, including carotenoids, beta-carotene and lutein.
I love this because it brings us back to something very simple:
Color in nature often means nutrients.
We’ve spent decades trying to isolate individual compounds into pills. CoreGreen takes a different approach by keeping chlorella’s natural nutrient matrix together.
What About Vitamin B12?
This one surprised me.
CoreGreen contains 7.5 mcg of naturally occurring vitamin B12 per five-tablet serving, which the current product profile lists as three times the Daily Value.
The nutritional profile also notes that chlorella’s naturally occurring B12 has been studied in human research for its ability to support serum B12 status.
Vitamin B12 plays an important role in normal energy metabolism, red blood cell formation and nervous system function.
And here’s an important distinction:
CoreGreen isn’t an energy drink.
We’re talking about supplying nutrients involved in the body’s normal processes—not artificially stimulating the body into feeling energized.
That difference matters to me.
Chlorella Is Also a Complete Plant Protein
Here’s another chlorella fact I didn’t expect.
CoreGreen’s chlorella contains all nine essential amino acids, including the branched-chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine. Its nutritional analysis identifies approximately 1,238 mg of total amino acids in a serving.
Now, I’m a HUGE believer in getting enough protein—especially for women as we move through midlife.
But let’s be clear:
CoreGreen isn’t replacing your chicken, eggs, Greek yogurt, protein shake or steak.
Its protein contribution is relatively small compared with a protein-rich meal.
Instead, I look at the amino acids as another example of how nutritionally interesting whole chlorella really is.
And yes… I’m still going to tell you to eat your protein.
Purity Matters With Chlorella
This might actually be one of the most important sections of this entire article.
If we’re intentionally consuming an algae product, I want to know where it came from and how it was tested.
Perga’s current CoreGreen profile states that the chlorella is USDA-NOP organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. It also reports batch testing for lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, microcystin and pesticides, along with additional quality and manufacturing certifications.
That’s an important reminder that when you’re choosing supplements:
More isn’t always better. Quality matters. Sourcing matters. Testing matters.
Read your labels. Ask questions. Know what you’re putting into your body.

Why Is CoreGreen Part of the PM Core 4 Routine?
CoreGreen is designed as the PM component of Perga’s Core 4 routine.
The standard serving is five tablets taken with water, and Perga recommends taking it in the evening alongside CoreRed.
And there’s something about that rhythm that I personally love.
Morning: support the body for the day ahead.
Evening: nourish it as you transition into recovery.
It creates a routine rather than another bottle sitting in the cabinet that you occasionally remember exists. Been there. 😂
Consistency is where simple habits become powerfu
My Biggest Takeaway From Learning About CoreGreen
If you’ve followed this Core 4 series from the beginning, you’ve probably noticed something.
I’m becoming less interested in quick fixes and more interested in foundations.
I want to lift weights.
I want to eat enough protein.
I want to walk.
I want to sleep well.
I want to drink my water.
I want to manage stress.
I want to spend time with God.
And I want to intentionally give my body the nutritional support it needs as I get older.
No supplement replaces those things.
But the right nutritional support can become part of the foundation we’re intentionally building.
That’s where CoreGreen fits for me.

Core 4: Four Products, One Foundational Routine
And just like that… we’ve made it through all four. 💙❤️💚
Over the past several months, I’ve taken you deeper into each part of Perga’s Core 4 because I don’t want you taking something simply because I tell you it’s good.
I want you to understand what you’re putting into your body and why.
That’s the heart behind Healthy Inside & Out.
Core 4 isn’t about chasing perfection.
It’s one piece of a bigger lifestyle built around movement, nutrition, recovery, faith, consistency and caring for the body God has given us.
Because longevity isn’t simply about adding years to our lives.
I want us strong enough, healthy enough and present enough to LIVE them.
And that’s a wellness journey worth investing in. 🌿
